Hi, I’m Cheryl Gillig, the proud owner of The Cake House in Pietermaritzburg. My love for cake artistry started when I was 14, thanks to my sister’s abandoned cake decorating tools, which I eagerly adopted.

Although baking was one of my passions through high school, it wasn’t until much later that I realised this could be my life’s work. Inspired by Cake Boss star Buddy Valastro and encouraged by my wonderful partner, Alan, I’ve built The Cake House to turn sweet dreams into show-stopping reality.

Every cake I create is made with love, care, and a sprinkle of magic.
